Private vs Group Boat Tours in Croatia: Which Is Right for You?
By Paradise Charter · 5 June 2026 · 6 min read
Most search results for 'Croatia boat tour' mix the two together. They shouldn't — they're not the same product. A group tour is mass transport with stops; a private charter is a day designed for you. Both have their place.
Group tours
- Cheapest per person — usually €70–€120.
- Fixed itinerary, fixed times. 20-minute swim breaks.
- 40–80 people on board. Loud, social, fine if you're a solo traveller.
Private charters
- €500–€2,500 for the day depending on boat and route.
- Your itinerary, your timing, your music.
- Anchor in coves group boats can't reach.
- Worth it for couples, families and groups of 4+.
The honest verdict
If you're four people or more, a private charter is usually cheaper per head than a group tour — and the day is incomparably better. If you're solo or backpacking on a budget, the group catamaran to Hvar is a fine introduction.
